Avoid Charity Scams

Some scammers will pretend to be from a well-known charity or even create pages on sites like ‘Go Fund Me’ after a tragedy in order to scam well-meaning people out of their money. It’s common for these types of scams to circulate on social media such as Facebook or Twitter. When you are donating, it’s very important to always verify you are donating to a real charity and that you do so through a valid method such as the charity website. It’s also a good idea to do some research on any charity before you donate to make sure your money is going to the right people and towards the right cause.
